Sequoia Parents Nursery School (SPNS) is a play-based, parent-participation preschool where children, parents, and teachers are fully involved in an interactive process of learning.

Our approach to early learning is rooted in developmentally appropriate, play-based strategies and values.
We offer an array of materials and learning spaces so that children are free to explore and follow their interests. Play is the work of children and it is through play that children learn and make sense of the world.
Our preschool provides a rich, hands-on learning environment fostering the whole child -intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.

We support the parenting journey. Not only do children grow, adults learn and grow together as well. Families build community and support each other when working side by side in a cooperative environment. Parents are in an interactive partnership with teachers contributing to their child’s school experience.
Through its affiliation with Sequoia District Adult Education, the preschool provides coaching and support by way of teacher-facilitated discussions based on parents' observations, and current early childhood education resources on topics including positive discipline, effective communication, child growth and development, handling transitions, limit-setting and more.
And importantly, SPNS families have a wonderful time together and build friendships that can - in our experience - last a lifetime.

For age 16 months through 5 and eligible for Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, or Kindergarten
SPNS provides large indoor and outdoor spaces, complete with developmentally appropriate equipment so that children can get down to the business of play.
The materials and daily schedule are designed so that children have freedom to explore and practice skills. Some teacher-guided group activities are offered each week.
SPNS has successfully prepared children for admission to kindergarten since 1970!
